The average price of laptops seems to be in the region of 450-550. However a mac will cost you a 1000 euro plus. Is there any reason why someone should splash out this kind of money for a mac or are there better ones within the average price range?

You can get the same spec Windows Laptop for less than half the price of a macbook pro. It is rediculous. Look up ASUS laptops, they having amazing designs built to a same standard as any Apple and can be repaired cheaply unlike the new disposable macbooks (fixed batterys etc).

I suppose its down to whether you prefer OSx and are prepared to pay the premium.

I dont understand the question? You mean what would be the same spec?

Macs use the same internals as PC do these days, Intel chipsets and Processors, Nvidia Graphics etc
