Having watched the 2011 Tour ITV highlights courtesy of honestjohn1992 on YouTube I can't find many others apart from a few of the 2010 race. Anyone got any links to to previous Tours that are 45 mins or longer, preferably each stage. Good for watching when on the turbo.

Don't know if you've seen these already, not free but might be of interest to you since they are targeted at relieving Turbo boredom

had the day off yesterday but was stuck indoors cos of the ice. I put on these vids with the laptop in front of the turbo.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdVd_X-z-ig&feature=BFa&list=UL5Y2DbFpn9dc

There are 8 in total, covering the whole of this years' etape. Found them randomly while looking for some cycling vids to keep my mind of the boredom of turbo training.
Basically some guy put a camera on the handlebars, so with the vids all running through one after the other, it was great to watch. The hour just flew by.

Funny thing was, I was getting so into it, that I found myself 'leaning' over a little when he was belting down the descents and round the hairpins etc.
    :o

    Hard at it PP??

Don't know if you caught it on TV, but I watched the Bradley Wiggins documentary on the turbo last night. Well, I watched when I wasn't in agony....

this has a huge library of race footage, pretty sure its ok to post the link. most of the video is tv footage from euro channels

you have to create an account, its free, and after you download a video you must share again by allowing a 1:1 (download:upload) ratio or you will be blacklisted

No point in killing yourself with sufferfest until you have the base miles done ;)

I'm keeping the sufferfest vids til January anyway, and any time I need to use the turbo between now and then, I'll be watching these!

Is this type of outmoded bullsh1t still applicable.
The reason I ask is that I have had a few tut tut comments from a small amount of interval training that I have uploaded to Strava.

If a person is doing say 6-8 hours a week with the most at endurance pace (LSD, Zone 2 etc) then is there any harm at all in say 10-15% of that being semi hard to hard intervals. I think not.

Reality is that the weather in Ireland at the moment does not favour spending a long time outside pottleing along in the small ring.

Sorry for hijack, but I see nothing wring with using a turbo to improve cadence, strength or intensity. I find watching rallce videos to some punding music a better way to do that.

PP - on cycling torrents maybe choose some race finales that match hour training goals
    long steady climbs
Lots of short sharp ramps followed by recovery,
A long lead out to a sprint,
    TT efforts.

    Best of luck and enjoy.

Each to their own, but having read a lot about different training methods, they all point to high volume low intensity training over the early winter, with a shift to higher intensity, lower volume in the run up to the beginning of the season. You're meant to arrive at the start line of the first race fresh and ready, not tired from training.

In saying that, my spins aren't completely in zone 2, that's impossible on the road with gradients, traffic lights and other obstacles and challenges. I generally see my HR creep into zone 3 and zone 4 for periods, especially using a single speed bike at club spins, I don't worry too much about it, but doing hard intervals is a little bit different. I'm not saying don't do it, do what works for you, I get my strength training from weight training at the minute, but that'll change come Jan.

Up until today the weather hasn't stopped me getting out on a bike, it'll probably mostly be on the turbo from now on though, but it's only 2 more weeks til a planned recovery week (Christmas week), and then the training focus shifts...

Sorry PPrenderville for going off topic...
