Is there any product that covers all the different stages/types of Fluke. Looking at the table below it seems to me that you need to use at least 2 products to get them all

Zanil and Levafas Diamond, both will cover both Stomach Fluke and adult Liver Fluke. You therefore have to wait a few weeks after housing so that the liver fluke mature into adults, so that you can kill them. I think it's 6 weeks, maybe somebody else will know for sure.

Tribex does all stages of the liver flukes but not the stomach ones

But you can dose with both at the same time according to vet (no liability).

Fasinex or Endofluke will kill all stages of Liver Fluke - best to dose when housing.

Zanil and Levafas Diamond will do Rumen fluke and Adult liver fluke only.

if you wait until at least 7 weeks after housing, both Zanil and LD will do both - but, a lot of damage done to liver in 7 weeks whilst you wait for Liver fluke to reach adult stage.

Best practise would be to do for Liver fluke at housing and then rumen fluke a month or so after. both are dose's down the neck and are relatively cheap but the fun of dosing cattle twice is not always the best......

I think you need to wait about 2 weeks after housing because some fluke that have just been picked up by the animal won't be at a stage where they'll be killed.

    Anyone use albex?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Yes last year found it good but we are farming on dry ground and in a dry year like last year would expect very low fluke burdens. Gave the fluke level dose at grass twice this year to try and keep on top of any fluke infection. Kept the remainder of the albex to dose milkers at dry off and used noromectin and trodax on youngstock.

Do you give the noromectin and the trodax at the same time freedominacup or stagger it a few weeks?

GAve the noromectimna week after housing and the trodax last week 4-5 weeks after housing. Tried to let as many as possible mature. Also were a bit afraid of adverse reactions from the 2 together.

Fasinex and Endofluke Kills early/immature, mature and adult liver fluke.

So if you dose on the day of housing, if it does what it says on the tin, then you should kill all fluke.

However, if you are intending to dose for Rumen fluke i.e. LD or Zanil of which also kills adult Liver fluke, if you wait 7 weeks after housing (although some argue that it can be 12 weeks for fluke to reach adult stage) you will catch any of the early imm/immature that the Endo or Fasinex missed.

In reality it means that while you are dosing twice, you are only taking the cattle out of the shed once. And at the second time of dosing you can give the second pour on for lice if you think you need to.

for me, it's about 2 things - making sure the job is done right but also as effeciently as possible as working all week.
