    Hi There

Was just wondering if anyone has any experience of this system in companies. Whereby they use different information like experience, qualifications, number of sick days taken, days off etc....

And use these to justify any lay offs, or promotions within the company.

My question is if an employee is pregnant, and assuming will have a higher number of sick days than an employee who is not, would this be taken into account in this 'matrix system' ?

Anyone with any experience in this who coudl maybe shed some light on it for me would be grate ful,

    Thanks
    JB

This is not legal advice, but my understanding that under equality employment law, that within the maternity leave period - pregnancy-related illnesses cannot be taken into account when employers are deciding on such matters as layoff/dismissal. Outside this period, it would be treated as per a normal illness matter.
