It really depends what you're after. The gamer is a desktop replacement whereas the chronos is more of a normal laptop (yet still pretty damn powerful). The gamer is obviously better for games but the chronos will still hold it's own. If you plan on never moving it around, then the gamer is the way to go. If you actually want to use it as a laptop, then the chronos.

how much better is the AMD 6970m over the nvidia gt650m?

I heard the GT650m is quite a powerful card (with 1gb GDDR5 memory) and can be overclocked to match the GTX660M.

Im not a huge pc gamer, I only play Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, crysis 1 etc.

Just wondering if the gt650m is good enough or should i fork out the extra 200 or so for the gamer even tho battery is worse, its thicker, and its an older model.

Leaning towards the chronos to be honest. I stays at home most of the time btw, have a netbook for college etc

    Thanks for your help

According to benchmarks its maybe 50% faster GPU wise, but in real life it can vary from game to game, your probably talking 5-10fps in a modern game running at 30-40 fps really. I'm a little surprised its only 1gb, I thought the 650m was was 2gb in almost all cases.

I don't think you'll overclock a 650m much in a standard laptop unless you customize the heatsink, in some cases they suffer from throttling from hitting the 90c ceiling at normal clock rates!

To give a more direct answer, I think the chronos will handle the games you are looking at fine, if I was to spend the extra I would try and find a gaming laptop with a AMD 7970 which a right beast.
