Both cables the same. Either cable can tune everything. I'd use 4 input Diseqc if you haven't bought them yet as you can easily add another LNB to your dish for 19E and hardly any different in price between 2 and 4 input

If more than one PVR is ever wanted a "multiswitch" is best. I have 4 Lnbs in and up to 16 coax out. Multiswitch looks like a Diseqc to the receiver. They come in different sizes from 2 LNB in and 8 outlets to 4 LNB in and 16 outlets and can be expanded to 1000s of outlets.

i have 2 four way diseq as it happens but each has only one output and the humax being dual tuner requires 2 inputs

Where's your problem?? Use the 2x four way diseqc switches in place of the two way switches shown above (i.e. each connected to the 28E LNB and the 9E LNB), and the outputs from the 2x diseqcs are fed to the 2x tuners in the Humax.

read this again, with the freesat you can record 2 channels at the same time and if i remember correctly watch another freesat. so to allow this to happen you should have one direct feed from your freesat lnb connected to input 2 on the humax, then when you use the 4 way switch have the freesat lnb conneted to number 1 on the switch. then you do a factory reset and the humax will now detect a diseq on input 1. the humax from what i can see has 4 diseq, a b c d = 4. I am trying to figure out what to do with the 4 options,

    a = 28e, b = 9east so c and d are spare anyway read this link

ya i get that part, but then when setting up in the humax you are given 3 options 1, one cable (with loop through ) 2 , two cables same ,3 two cables different, im not sure which to use from the last two as each cable has 2 different lnbs on it

Has to be two cables the same, it would only be two different if for example you had each input fed from different sats with no Diseqc.

not so sure gb, at present i am setting it up as if it has one tuner so i got to the point of satellite settings so i thought if i said 1 cable and set up diseq on that to take a feed from saorsat lnb and freesat lnb it should combine the two epg in nonfreesat mode, but not working so far ,it picks up that 28 is on diseq a, but finds nothing on b,c,or d eventhough i have connected saorsat to lnb 2 on the switch i got saorsat through the diseq by manually searching in satellite settings and saorsat was on the epg but then freeview was missing

You made such a big deal about trying to get your original thread stickied, to keep all the info in 1 place: why have you yourself started a 2nd on the same subject?

Anyhow, I'd think you need the custom firmware installed to have a chance of getting diseqc to work the way you want.

When fully set up it should be set up as two cables, both the same.
it should combine the two epg in nonfreesat mode,

Non freesat mode will never combine both EPGs. You would need to install special software which adds the non freesat channels to the normal freesat EPG. Until you have the special software installed you need to manually switch from Freesat to non Freesat mode.

because this is a slightly different question on a related subject and would get lost in the other thread as some people may have stopped following, it it proves the need for a sticky where people could go directly, and all related questions could be found together, my new thread now has 3 different contributors whereas the other on was more or less down to one

oddly enough i got it working last night ! i now have the 2 channel lists visible in nonfreesat mode utvs bbcs in the 5000s rte etc at the other end so next step add the software and see how that goes, at present when i select say bbc from the list it works or when i select rte from the list it works so the diseq is switching from 1 lnb to the other could not get that to work at first so we are progressing ( slowly ) all the time ,thanks to all for the help

Time to install Raydon's software!! It will simplify the whole process.

well done, you are storming ahead, just to recap for my benefit are you connecting to the 2 tuners on the humax or just one ie lnb 1?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,574 ✭✭✭dharn

just one at the moment as the second cable had a break in it which i could not find, i have that sorted now i think so will do the same with the second diseq then i might approach the software changes to the humax, i imagine there will be more swearing involved and more questions ! i have the radon bundle down loaded, do i need to have the humax connected to the net via cable or will loading the software of a usb be sufficient

Got lazy gb and have yet to complete the job, I have a cat 5 cable run from the modem to the box but have to get a friend to put the plugs on it, the daughter has a rake of series links set up to record, so as it is we tend to watch rte live and record the freesats and watch later, so despite all my effort I did not complete yet, thanks for your interest
