Criminal law solicitor after being arrested

Hi- I've been arrested twice- once about 8 years ago for criminal damage- the charge was struck out as the damage was not serious and I paid for the repair of the property. and last month where someone accused me of stealing a wallet (I didn't) and I refused a garda search (more of a matter of principal as I'd done nothing wrong and valued my privacy)

I want to work as as a solicitor in criminal law (have FE1s done) and I'm just wondering would these incidents affect any possible future law career.

    Thread title disappoints.

The arrests won't be a problem. If the latest arrest leads to a conviction, that could be a problem. Have you been charged?

The arrest will definitely not lead to a charge and the garda was pretty apologetic afterwards...

Is there a possibility that it could lead to an awkward moment in the future where a Garda in the station that night recognises me and word gets round that I was arrested. I know the legal community is pretty small. Or am I being uber paranoid??

What could possibly be awkward about that ? Being arrested is not an indicator of guilt :pac:

In any event, lets say there was a possibility - of course there is as everything is possible in law as in life - would this make you decide not to qualify and practice as a criminal solicitor ? Surely not.

Not to worry, I'd say they'll get a great kick out of it!

    Thread title misleading.

If no convictions you should be ok.
