Apparently the Isle of Man's annual subsity from the UK has been reduced, so these plates are
a new way of generating revenue.

Fairly pointless, there would hardly be 100 combinations of anything MANX --- that would be any use when your stuck with 3 numbers.

Our government should issue private plates IRL and then whatever 5 letters or less you want afterwards, flat €5000 fee and you can transfer it to your next car for life or sell it :D

Why can't our useless shower of ***wits not think of doing something like this?
Those that have money would love yet another status symbol to display their wealth. We'd be happy taking their money if it reduced the old motor tax bill forthe rest of us.

Are these available to everyone in the uk or just manx residents?

Not a hope that would reduce anyone else`s motor tax bill.

Do they still inexplicably use the same font as we do for plates? Never understood that, as it does appear to be only us and them.

Come on, this is the Irish government you are talking about. If it makes sense and wont hurt the poor, they cant do it.

They missed out on a few numbers like the early Ferrari numbers,308, 328, 348, they're in the 'cheap' £5000 bracket.
