    So...

    http://entertainment.ie/music/news/Lil-Wayne-confirms-debut-Irish-concert--and-we-have-tickets-to-give-away!/154491.htm

I used to be a huge Wayne fan. Up until the last year really when I've just kind of gotten sick of him.

I would have freaked out at this announcement about 18months ago, and I was thinking I might still go, if he does some Carter III tracks and some No Ceilings tracks I would enjoy it...

But then I saw "Special guest: Mac Miller" and I ****ing have to go now. I saw Mac in Amsterdam back in May and he was unreal.

    Tickets on sale Friday.

Anyone gonna go? (we already know mufcboy1999 isn't, so I'll save him the time).

I will be avoiding this at all costs.

I'm in the same boat as you I think, wouldn't have any real interest in seeing Wayne but Mac is supporting so I'm actually thinking about getting a ticket now? :p

Noticed there's no UK date, same with Chris Brown..he was in The O2 last night and he has no UK dates for his European Tour either..? Anyone know why they'd come here and not to the UK which would have bigger crowds/venues?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,825 ✭✭✭Mikeyt086

In an ideal world, Mac Miller would do a 90 min set and then Wayne would come out and do Carter III tracks...

What will probably happen is Mac will do 40mins and Wayne will come out on a ****ing skateboard and just shout TRUKFIT for an hour then do some tracks off the upcoming I Am Not A Human Being 2, which I am expecting will be dire.

Wayne and Chris Brown not allowed in to England due to their criminal records lil Wayne cancelled his European tour lst year cause of it

Just saw tickets are around the €50 mark, don't think I'll bother now... I've wanted to see Mac live for a while now but I'm not really pushed about paying that much to see him perform 4-5 songs to a crowd of Irish Lil Wayne fans (most of us know what the crowd at this will be like).

I might just wait until he's here on his own, hopefully he'll go on his own tour after his next album is released.

Ohh, makes sense. I remember Snoop wasn't allowed into the UK when he was touring Europe with Diddy a few years back, that was a great night in The Point :)

I'd like to see Mac Miller, but the O2 is too big a venue for him.

    As for Lil Wayne, pffft.

This one will be not sadly missed.

what do you think we'll get from this?

I barely listened to his last album, don't find it catchy at all

But would like to hear Tha Carter III and maybe some of rebirth
then a load of his feature tracks

Unfortunately it seems to be a tour for "I Am Not A Human Being 2" which is meant to release in February I think.

Chances are the show will be based heavily on that album, some of his recent stuff like Homies Still and No Worries, and a good few off Carter IV probably.

As it's his first time in Ireland he will surely do the likes of A Milli, but I would expect them to be in the minority.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,298 ✭✭✭srm23

im hoping he at least plays Comfortable,
on the last tour he was doing a mix with a Beyonce song and then into Mrs. Officer.
if he gives us that then lollipop, a milli and got money it should be great.

his newer live youtube videos seem to be all droany beats where you can barely make out what he is saying, newer material seems more underground kind of sound....won't go down well with those who show up at the 02 expecting what i described above!

The WORST guitar player in the world, and that's a compliment

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,515 ✭✭✭tupac_healy

I'm 33 years of age and I LOVE Lil Wayne :D

Yeah Rap was better in the 90s, well mainstream anyway but he has some good tracks & he CAN rap, tracks like 'A Milli' prove that. Yeah his style might be different and he goes off on some weird musical style paths but if all rappers rapped the same it would be boring :P :P

What are the chances of him doing any of:
    On Fire
    Drop the world
    Shoot me down
    Sky is the limit
    Lollipop
    A Milli
    How to love
    John
    Mirror
    So Special
    Nightmares of the bottom
    President Carter
    So Special
    She Will

    Lil Wayne - O2 Arena, Dublin - 08/03/2013

    Lil Wayne reschedules Dublin show
Lil’ Wayne has pushed back his March 8 visit to the Dublin O2 to October 9 in order to “accommodate the release” of his new record.

“I am rescheduling to my European tour in order to release my album, I Am Not A Human Being II, worldwide on March 26,” says the rapper. “I didn’t want my tour or album to be rushed, so despite my best hopes, I have made the decision to push back the tour to October 2013. I cannot thank my European fans enough for their patience and look forward to performing in the fall with Mac Miller. I never do anything halfway, and I promise to bring what will be an incredible live show experience."

Sort of suits me because I'm sick at the moment, but I wish it hadn't been postponed quite so far.

Wonder what the real reason was. If it was really because of the album, they wouldn't have waited until a couple of days before the tour started to announce it. More visa issues maybe? Or perhaps it just wasn't selling.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 25,734 Mod ✭✭✭✭Boom_Bap

I'd say the real reason is that they want to tour the US first with the new album release. It's a huge revenue stream for the label.

    Yeah, that makes sense.

Just seems strange that they waited until the week of the tour to announce it.

Funny enough it actually suited me a whole lot better! Snowed under with weddings and stuff! Broke as hell so happy days it got moved!!!!

I'm the same. A couple of years ago I would have been definitely gone to see Lil Wayne. But his music has really deteriorated since 2009

I was glued to Tha Carter III album. I loved No Ceilings. But since then I've only liked a few of his songs in the past 3/4 years. Most of them were collaborations. Tha Carter IV was a massive disappointment.

Anyone know the set-list for tonight or what time he is on stage?

Oh also, I presume the old tickets for the cancelled gig are acceptable for tonight?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,515 ✭✭✭tupac_healy

So yeah, thought id go over at 9.30 miss the opening act and some of the 'filler' songs and catch the big tunes at the end....

    Half hour later.... leaving???

Came on at 9, gone at 10.....

One of my mates was working at this, said he was shockingly bad

As tupac-healy mentioned, he barely played for an hour!
    That is awful form tbh

He sounded ok, I didnt know the tracks though, more of a mainstream Wayne fan, but for sure for the main act to play barely an hour is atrocious.....

Its not like he wasn't getting love from the crowd, they were well into the show

What I mean is it wasn't going bad or anything as a reason for finishing up after an hour, I dont know how long MM was on, circumstances conspired against me!!!

    What was the set list?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,298 ✭✭✭srm23

    songs i remember:

    Im goin in
    Blunt Blowin
    Trippy
    Steady Mobbin
    Rich as ****
    How to Love
    Lollipop
    Got Money
    The Motto

    Interval:
Dj played Hustler Musik & Go DJ

    A Milli
    Banz a make her Dance
    Love Me
    Tap out
    No Worries
A few songs i didnt know here.

All the songs were short versions, eminem at slane style bar a few.

was over bang on 10pm and only started just before 9, this seems to be about the size of his set on his americas most wanted tour, but at that ya get TI playing a similar sized set too i think, headliner needed to
be longer. he has loads of collabs, more tunes from tha carter 3 everyone would have loved to here, really enjoyed the first half, not so much the stuff i didnt know second part and abrupt ending.

some idiot also threw a bottle at him 30 seconds into the concert. he stopped picked it up and said he wont stop for this but he will throw the next one back. i assume it was plastic bottle anyway, no more went on thankfully

Played some of his better tracks at the start so, :(
