a close relative is thinking of buying a fiat 500 but would like to get one in an automatic

ive heard it said that automatics are not as good in small cars - small engines

is their any credibility to theese claims ?

Check out Honestjohn and Parkers websites for reviews. Honestjohn says "It's a Dualogic automated manual, not an automatic. But no problems reported to me so far." Parkers facts says the duologic has the same 0-60 times and manages 2 mpg more. But what would I know?

With good reason, the old automatic in the yaris was great. Then they replaced it with the MMT gearbox, which like most automated manual boxes is rubbish.

Have a look at something from VAG, they will most likely have the DSG box.
