Traffic lights in Co. Roscommon

We were talking in the pub over the weekend about the statistic that there are supposedly no traffic lights in Leitrim. Which got us onto the matter a to whether there are any in County Roscommon?

By this I mean lights at a junction as opposed to pedestrian lights like in Roscommon town or Castlerea, or the lights at train crossings. We couldn't for the life of me think of one set in the county, so are there any or have we missed a set somewhere?

Only place I can think of is on the way to Athlone there's a train crossing. Nowhere else beside the few pedestrian crossings. Roscommon is full of roundabouts so they do the job well, even if the majority of the town hasn't a clue how to use one

There's lights on the draw bridge in Tarmonbarry

Carrick on Shannon (nearly certain) has lights, a pedestrian crossing beside roundabout at bridge

Both do, but they're pedestrian ones.

    What a great topic.

can't for the life of me think of any, unless Athlone has one somewhere.

None around the Boyle/Carrick area for sure.

The place could actually use a few of them.

The ones in Tarmonbarry aren't pedestrian, they're on the draw bridge. I got caught there once or twice.

but that's for boats, surely they don't really count.

I think this topic is more about traffic lights at junctions and that.

Having a project due in for college and thinking about traffic lights, oh the joys.

There's no need for traffic lights on Roscommon. There's not enough traffic and roundabouts do a great job at reducing congestion

The key to success on a Roscommon Town roundabout is take up a position in the middle of the lanes, put on your indicator to turn right, then pull left then back right. Then wave your fist at the poor fcuker behind you.

People cannot even understand what the road markings mean indicating which lane to use near Dunnes... :)

roundabouts don't break if the electricity is off

Yes, pedestrian ones. See the opening post, they're looking for lights that are for a junction ie, aren't pedestrian or railway crossing
