I'm looking to buy a stand for cleaning/ maintenance of my bike.
Didn't really want to spend more than €100.

Best so far seems to be this x-tools workshop stand which I could order from CRC for €105 next year (it's out of stock)

Unless anyone has any better recommendations?

    Thanks in advance

My advice is sit-it-out til they come into Lidl....great bit of kit for €35.

I had the same delima earlier this year.... and they eventually arrived in. No problem with queues etc ....most people didn't know what to do with it ~(it is surprising the amount of new cyclists that don't look after their bike!!)

    Very Happy with mine anyway!!

    Sikky

Yeah I missed them last time around, not sure if they'll be released again, so was just looking for other options in case the lidl ones don't see the light of day again.
Do you find it good at holding the bike etc - I've heard they're very good for the money.

The Lidl bike stand that's pretty decent, and very very good value at €34.99.

They seem to only to only have it as a special offer once a year during the summer months (It was on sale July 2nd this year, and July 7th in 2011).

But keep an eye out for any Lidl warehouse clearance sales.
Also, check Adverts.ie, DoneDeal etc. Someone was selling the Lidl bike stand on the Cycling Adverts sub-forum a few weeks ago.

Thanks will keep an eye out in case it comes up again during the next few weeks, be great to spend €35 (or less) instead of €105.

+1 on the lidl stand, but I wouldn't expect to see it available again until the spring. Tends to be a bit ski/snowboard/christmas decorations at this time of year. One in adds was sold quick enough, but you could always put a wanted add up.

Edit: For most servicing and adjustments, I tend to find the turbo a way better option, as you often need to check the drive train with some resistance in place. Something like a cheap turbo might be worth considering as an alternative.

Thanks, some reviews say it's a little unstable.

I think I'd like the height a workstand would give

I have a Lidl stand that I'd be willing to sell. Got it the last time they were available (July?) and it's spotless, only set up once. It's been kept in the box.

I bought it with newfangled ideas of storing the bike in a new apartment but the bath is doing that job just fine.

€30 would seem fair enough I think. Collection from Marino any weekday evening.

    Sure let me know.

....only works outside and you need a car but I use my Saris Bones bike rack. It works great for maintenance and cleaning if you put your bike on the outer cradle.

I have one in this style but it's not very stable and is only handy for adjusting gears (and even then needs care to avoid knocking the bike over).

I almost never use it except on holidays when I'm not allowed bring the proper stand...
