    Hi there,

just about to buy a new laptop and after having an old macbook I'm thinking of getting a pc laptop this time for better value for money and performance.
I have between 700 - 1200€ to spend. I want to use the laptop to edit video, run photo shop, some gaming as well as day to day use. Mainly I want to something powerful that has no problem with adobe and photoshop and other media needs.
The entry level macbook pro has relatively low specs , so I figured I could get a lot more for my money if I shopped around for Pc laptops? I saw this Lenovo Y580 on pcworld website looks liek it might do the job but I'm not sure?

any advice would be really appreciated?

I have the Lenovo Y580 with the i5 and 1080p screen instead of the i7 and 768p screen. Mine was 200 euro cheaper from Komplett which have now discontinued my model. I've had it now for about 2 months and absolutely love it. I bought it for college work and heavy gaming and it does the job perfectly.

It is able to play Skyrim, Starcraft 2, Sniper Elite V2, Dishonored and Borderlands 2 all on Very Hight/Ultra. Battery life is good too without playing games, I get about 4-5 hours with internet browsing/youtube/video streaming.

It should be perfect for your video editing/photo shop needs bar of course, the worse screen.

This MSI G60 is pretty well the same specs but cheaper and has a better 1080p screen.

Maybe have a look at configuring the Vortex or Optimus on PCSpecalist as well?
