    Hi,

    Question on JSA please.
If your weekly means from all sources are greater than the maximum Jobseeker’s Allowance payment for your situation then you will not get Jobseeker’s Allowance.

Maximum weekly rate of Jobseeker's Allowance for people aged 25 and over (2012)
    Personal rate (claimant) €188
Increase for a qualified adult €124.80
Increase for a qualified child €29.80 (full-rate) €14.90 (half rate)

Example, couple A (one income family) with 2 children the maximum JSA is €372.4 (€188+€124.80+€29.80+€29.80)

If the spouse/partners assessable weekly earning are anything more than €372.40, (or a net annual of €19,240) the claimant gets nothing?

Means test, gross pay minus €60 get 60% of remainder so in your example €372.40 is 60% of gross less €60 aprox €680 gross pay.

Aye - so a one income family with two kids where the sole earner has an annual gross of €35,360 would not be eligible for any JSA for the other partner/spouse?

The earner would not be eligible for jsa if working full time. The partner/spouse would be entitled to €5 approx I am going on the gross figure and not deduction prsi contributions. The earner may be entitled to Family Income Supplement as its nett figure is used for FIS and if you do qualify then the minimum payment you get is €20 but there is a wait of approx 4-5 months from reading other threads here.
