Hi :) could anyone tell me how many points I need to make for an account question, like "write an account of the home rule crisis". I'd really appreciate a sample answer too :)

Are you talking about Question 6?

If so, it is marked according to the marking scheme:
Mark on SRS principle: [Max CM = 8M Max OM = 2M]
    OM: 2M = very good / good; 1M = fair / poor ; 0 mark = very poor

An 8M Cumulative mark would probably need 4 Significant Relevant Statements.

Check the relevant part of the marking scheme to see how many SRSs they want.

If you mean facts that you have to put in? Like if you were writing about Leonardo or something? If so, my history advised us to write at least 8 valid, important points, but you can't just write about his/her early life, you have to write about the whole thing, so you could do 3 points for his/her early life, 3 for the middle of his/her life and 2 for the end of his/her life.

Leonardo do Vinci was an Italian painter in the Renaissance. 1 SRS
He painted the Mona Lisa 1 SRS
He used a technique called sfumato 1 SRS
He used to invent things too and had a notebook with drawings of a helicopter in it. 1 SRS

8 is way over the top unless the marking scheme gets adjusted. If you have 8 put them down, but if they are only looking for 4, you'll only be marked on 4..

Rubbish about incidents in his early life are not really significant. Names of works, techniques, something which the person did differently - they are more important.

When I used to correct, I lost count of the number of times I got dross about Michelangelo breaking some dude's nose - complete rubbish and worth no marks.

    Significant Relevant statements.

My history teacher said 10 points. His logic was that 1 point was two marks.

I never corrected an exam where they wanted 10 SRSs.
The full 20 marks would never go just for SRSs - there are always Cumulative marks (CM - the SRSs) and an OM (Overall mark) element.
Possibly 8 SRSs for a CM of 16 and an OM of 0-4.

The marking schemes are quite clear on what they want.

So realistically, learning off a big long answer of 15 points, like many teachers asks students to do, it makes much more sense to form 8 relevant points on the person asked to write about?

    Yes.
It is also MUCH less annoying for the person correcting, who has to correct every sentence, even if you have full marks by the end of the first couple of paragraphs.

The only time you would ever need that many SRSs would be if for some reason the exam was incredibly easy and they were trying to lessen the amount of marks people were getting on that question.
