Polar CS200 HR Monitor

I am wondering does anyone have any knowledge on this please.

My Polar CS200 (over 2 years old) is not reading the correct HR recently. Cadence and everything else is fine but the HR is all over the place. For instance, last night I put it on to test it and it was reading over 220bpm while I was watching TV. My max HR is 177.

I replaced the battery in the chest strap unit today and it is still the same. I thought it was the same battery in the clock unit but its different so I will get one of those on Wednesday to try that.

Has anyone experienced this problem in the past and is it curable?

Had a similar issue and from looking on other forums its the chest strap itself, the chest tabs to be more precise.
A new strap solved it for me, still using the original sensor which has the battery.
    Hope this helps

Occasionally happens.....might be interference, although I would have thought the tv is too low powered for that. Otherwise make sure the strap is wet and shave your chest (no really, makes a big difference)

You most likely need a new strap. The contacts can become corroded over time through sweat, they can also break when disconnecting the transmitter for either battery change or to wash the strap.

Is the signal continually erratic or does it spike up after a while or spike at the start & settle down?

Depending n the age of the unit you may be covered with warranty still. 2 years on most Polar products. I have had a few faulty straps returned.

The advice re wetting the strap is valid. If you are hairy chested & don't shave / wax then you can get better contact using an ultra sound gel to help the electrical signal.

Thanks Lads for the replies. I left the unit connected to the strap for a while which I now see is a no no so it must the strap.

I will check out my purchase date but I think it is over 2 years now. A new strap should be reasonable enough I imagine
