Trying to find out about an island lake-house in Scotland.

    A long time ago, I went on a trip with some family members to M&D's, I was too young to remember any of the boring details about where the hell I was, but I knew I was in Scotland at least.

    I've been trying to hunt down a sight that I saw on the bus journey on the way there.
    It was a long journey, and somewhere in the middle of it we passed a large lake to the left of us. We were very high up, there were lots of trees and greenery around the area and only certain stretches of the road had a good view. What stood out was this mansion/castle on an island on the lake, absolutely beautiful thing, seemed to be isolated but it looked like people lived there. I asked about but I forget the names that were given to me, it turns out that it was a private residence.

    It looks like I would have arrived in Cairnryan town in Scotland off the Stenaline, then headed to Motherwell. Unfortunately I cant find any places on Google maps between those locations that look correct to me. Can anyone help me out?
