If someone claiming Job Seekers Allowance is offered a few hours week , say 8 hours for instance , financially are they better off working the 8 hours in one day or 4 hours over 2 days ?

Or does it make a difference ?

Do as much as possible over one day.
You can work 3 days outta 6 (not including Sunday but that'll be changed soon).
If you work two days instead of one, your money would be reduced by more.

I don't understand this at all. :( God speed the day that it'll be stated explained in an easy-to-understand manner. :/

I would think for JSA it could depend on the persons earnings - there is a disregard of €20 per day worked.
OP if you knew how much you were being paid you could get exact figures.

Going by the link above I've worked it out thats its better to work over 2 days , does anyone know if this is right ?

Example : If I get €80 to work 8 hours over one day

Total weekly earnings ÷ number of days worked = average daily earnings.
    80 ÷ 1 = 80

    Average daily earnings - €20 = total x 60% = daily means from work.
    80 - 20 = 60 x 60% = 36

Daily means from work x number of days worked = weekly means from work.
    36 x 1 = €36

Example : If I get €80 to work 8 hours over two days

Total weekly earnings ÷ number of days worked = average daily earnings.
    80 ÷ 2 = 40

    Average daily earnings - €20 = total x 60% = daily means from work.
    40 -20 = 20 x 60% = 12

Daily means from work x number of days worked = weekly means from work.
    12 x 2 = €24

Surely the lower means is better ???

Also if the means is €24 , does that mean I lose €24 from my JSA but gain €80 from working leaving me €56 euro better off after working 2 days ?

I have been offered one mornings work a week for €50 and I'm on JSA.
