    Thanks

Eh? Never heard of that before and I have bought loads of stuff on E Bay Germany!
    Pay him with PayPal ....

The Germans normally don't use PayPal, he might accept a bank transfer.
I usually sort out the payment and delivery details before bidding.

Never met a German seller that didn't take Überweisung (bank transfer)

Get a IBAN + BIC/SWIFT number and transfer the money.

Offering to pay by PayPal would just be insulting.

I've bought several things from German ebay and never had a problem paying by papal.

Not the way it used to be, but I'm sure ebay/the pope have done their best to force/railroad users into using it. :D

Cheers. Yeah its a strange setup. Looks like his friend is selling them on his behalf thru another ebay account. Im guessing he's not too computer savy. Will ring today and suggest the bank xfer/iban method in my best german..

Germans are notoriously difficult about foreign buyers in my experioance. They charge a fortune for P&P too often. Did you translate the page? Did he say "buyer collects"?

Yeah translation wasn't great but did mention cash on collection. Only have a phone number to contact him on so will have to persuade him to accept bank xfer and courier collection

Never had that before, but then I can string together a bit German. I always indicate I'll be paying by bank transfer too.

Now I've not experienced that myself, I find the P&P usually very reasonable and sometimes a lot cheaper than the a UK seller insisting on going to the Post Office to use the Royal Mail. Even when sellers have ship to Germany only, I've never had a request turned down for P&P to Ireland. (I have on a couple of occasions been turned down by UK sellers, of extremely light items, for shipping to Ireland)

I have been collecting all sorts of stuff for my VW Syncros and German E Bay is where most of it comes from. I have well over 100 transactions and almost all have been done via PayPal. All the others have been done via IBAN transfer and never any problems. Germans use PayPal just as much as anyone else.
They are much more reasonable with their P&P charges as well and stuff usually arrives much quicker than anything from the UK

I've bought quite a few things from German ebay, never had a problem and find the p&p charges pretty reasonable.

Try French Ebay for high p&p.

have bought several vintage chainsaws on german ebay, even a big box, 2 foot cube, and with a 100cc saw, rarely cost more than €20 carraige. All were bank transfer payments.
