    lads my young fella he is 17 on the 3rd of january. i drive a 2002 volkswaggen bora. its 115bph. what sort of money would it be to insure him as a named driver. ive being on the internet now a while filling out these f****ng '' quick quote'' things.. waste of time.!! have ny of ye any recent quotes for first time drivers. please name the company and the car :)

    Your best bet is just ringing around the different companies.

    How long is a piece of string?

    No easy answer Im afraid; get out the phonebook and ring every broker and insurer that you can find. Forget about online quoting systems; they are next to useless (especially quick quotes which wont give anything even remotely realistic).

    AXA used to do a deal (Not sure if they still do it) where insurance was cheap as long as you got lessons with them. It was €900 for 10 lessons and the years insurance for a 17 year old on a provisional driving a 1.4 Civic. That was last year though so I don't know if they still do any offers like that...

    i wouldnt let my fella near a civic lol. van is plenty powerful enough for him,,
    but to me that seems a very good deal, i heard him saying he was quoted 1800 for a toyota starlet. not sure what company tho.

    Take a look at this page. It gives you links to lists of cars and their insurance groups. 1 is the cheapest to insure, 50 being the most expensive. It's an english site but it's fairly standard for Ireland too...

    i think ill have to do sum ringing around. i find if u tell them ur getting it at say 1000 and they were quoting 1100 they do under cut it again say 950 :P
