Anyone recommend some good cross country/wooded trails in Kildare?

I mainly run on roads and footpaths with the occasional run around the Curragh and I'm looking for a bit of variety to my routine. Whenever I'm in my home town of Newmarket Co Cork I always go for a run in the Island wood and I just love it, especially the few rougher narrow trails in the wood.

I'd love to find something like that in Kildare. I love running in wooded areas, but I'd try any kind of cross country running if the trail is interesting - i.e. not the likes of the Curragh, most of it is just too flat and open for me.

Distance wise 5-10 miles would be the dream.

Donadea Forest Park between Clane & Kilcock has lovely trails through forest. Might be bit far away for you though.

I'd forgotten all about Donadea. How long are the trails there? I've only been there once or twice with the kids so didn't get to see much of it.

Thanks for the replies, reckon I'll give a drive out there on Thursday and give a couple of laps of the Aylmer Walk to try it out.
