    Hi all,

I'm doing some research for my thesis. I'm looking into the impacts extracting water from lough derg to supply Dublin would have on the lake and surrounding environment.

Some questions I have are :

Is any water being extracted from Lough Derg at present to supply the surrounding area ?

Whats the capacity of the lake?

Rates of flow from shannon into the lake?

Cannot find anything online re lough derg so if anyone has any info please let me know.

    Thanks guys.

Try the OPW, Local area Engineer, local authority and local fisheries board.

Surely one of them will have that sort of info.

Add the ESB to that list. They have several hydrometric gauges around Lough Derg that they use to manage Parteen Weir and Ardnacrusha dam. You might be able to get in contact with them at Ardnacrusha or at Turlough Hill possibly.

OPW might also have gauges in the area www.opw.ie/hydro

Jacobs are working on the Shannon CFRAMS at the moment. Well worth ringing them up http://shannoncframstudy.ie/

Check out www.floodmaps.ie for reports of flooding in the area - they sometimes have the type of information you're looking for.
