    Try www.blacknight.ie.

You'll need to first register your domain name which can be completed there.
Then if you need hosting for the site you can sign up for one of the packages, if it's just email I'd recommend using Google Apps, you'll get 10 free addresses and all the same features as Gmail while having the advantage of an @yourdomainname email address.

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for this. I had a look at the website but it's not giving me the XXXX.ie address I want with my company name in it. Is this option not available through this website?

If you want a .ie domain name you will have to pay for it. .ie domains are quite expensive compared to the free .co or even .coms! Google domain name search and you can see if your desired name is available and what you need to get it. Or as already suggested get on to Blacknight and they will sort it for you. They are also sponsoring the get business online initiative and give lots of great advice on this forum.

    Cheers

    Peter,

Can I buy the domain name from one provider and buy the hosting from another?

Of course but they all charge the same for the names pretty much, so cany see why!! Garner the quotes and then decide.

We removed .ie domains from the service a few months ago and are now offering .co domains instead http://blog.blacknight.com/press-release-blacknight-announce-free-co-domains-for-getting-business-online.html

    www.letshost.ie for domain name

web hosting -don't buy in Ireland, british web hosting is much cheaper
second option is a web developer, who will build your page and host for free

What a patriotic post!! The least you could do is back it up with facts, if you have them at all.

Show me irish asp.net hosting for less than 50 euro/year. I couldn't find for 80e/y in July ;)

If you have a domain you could easily setup google apps for business which comes with a nice Gmail type interface for your email accounts. Once setup its pretty trivial to admin. Push email to a smartphone where supported.
Microsoft also have an offering like it as well.

Your website can be setup independent of that as well.

Hi Jane98, I use register365.ie they have packages starting from about €2.50 pm ex VAT, you get hosting and email. If you pay for the year, they will give you a free .ie domain.

    Hope this helps

The problem with hosting outside the country if targeting the Irish market is that the response time of the site may be slower than an Irish site hosted on an Irish hoster. The other factor when using hosters in another country is that you might be dealing with a small hoster or a reseller of a reseller.

The top Irish hosters in order of hosted domains are:
    Blacknight.com
    Register365.ie
    Digiweb.ie
    Letshost.ie
    Irishdomains.com

If you are targeting the Irish market, then a .ie is almost expected now. It will cost more but the investment might be worth it. If the .com is available then register it too. If you are targeting the UK market, then register the .co.uk and if you are targeting elsewhere in the EU, register the .eu variant. As to having a webpage, even a one page site with contact details might suffice. The Gettingbusinessonline.ie thing might be the quickest solution.

    Regards...jmcc
