Energy 1395AM is again off the air this weekend - the station was last heard 4 weekends ago relaying Nova as opposed to its own programs.

Has the long running station ceased or are there technical issues ?

NRG & Easy91.6 are also still off the air.

btw Seagull radio can be picked up on 1395 at night (ex 7-10pm)

Yes, I havent been able to hear Energy Am last few weekends, I live in west Dublin and signal is very good, much better than Spirit on 549AM which is weak and worse at night must be around 200 watts, however Energy Am has been on for over five years perhaps more, I love the AM sound and music, I hope they return soon, the strong winds and rain of late may have caused them problems, I didnt hear the Nova relay, what source was that coming from ?, It will be 30 years since the Nova closedown in May 83 next year, and Chris will have passed away 5 years ago in Feb 13, any tributes planed ?

NRG 94.3 are off due to XMAS FM, its very difficult to set up a station in Dublin due to lack of frequencys.

nrg are off on acount of christmas fm.

That's NRG on 94.3, which is a dance station. Energy (Power) AM is on 1395 kilohertz on Medium Wave (AM). It is an automated weekend-only oldies staton - different station. The clue is in the name of the thread! So it should not be affected by Christmas FM.

Energy (Power) AM is unusual these days in that is a pirate on AM! In fact, it is unusual enough to have any Irish station on AM! The only other examples are Spirit on Medium Wave and RTE Radio 1 on 252 metres Long Wave (MW and LW make up AM).

In response to another post, I believe Energy AM has been around since 2006 and is run by individuals who go back to '80s pirates. As far as I can make out, it never received a visit from Comreg... possibly because it broadcast from the less used frequency these days of MW!

Energy (Power) AM's take on oldies is playing the slightly less heard hits from the '70s, '80s, '90s, a bit of the early '00s and a bit of the '60s.

So maybe the weather has got something to do with its absence. Or, have the guys jacked it in? Someone must know....

1395 AM was on last weekend, I was tuning around last Sunday afternoon and they were relaying Nova 100.3, good signal west Dublin, they havent been broadcasting as Energy for weeks now, wonder why ?

Anyone know when NRG will be back on fm? Tuned in to 94.3 today and found easy94.3 has taken its spot in west Dublin.

    NRG Dublin :

Strong carrier has appeared this (early) evening on 94.3 - equivalent signal strength to NRG.

Possibly better for NRG to go to 91.6 (Easy's old frequency) as there are a number of college stations due on in Jan/Feb.

    Energy AM:

1395 AM has made a few brief appearances over the holiday period - sadly only relaying Spirit (which is already on AM !)

    Betania:

Betania radio continues today on 99.5 - the station - romanian ? - has been on air over the Christmas period (temp licence)

    Misc:

Pirates over the christmas period in Dublin included:
    92.1 Galaxy
    93.2 Play
    107.1 Tonic

Dance music when I heard it - ok'ish signal on the southside of the city - appeared early December

Going back to the original topic of this thread, what has happened with Energy AM? Have the guys just called it a day, or are there technical issues, or were they finally warned by Comreg?

It would be great if the principals involved came on to this forum to explain the situation.

I think a new thread should be started if people want to discuss the Dublin pirates in general, as it gets confusing, especially when there was another pirate around in recent times with a similar name (NRG).... just my opinion!

Energy 1395AM were back on the air this afternoon (Jan 19th 2013) - think its the first time this year.

'Energy' back on the air yesterday evening and this afternoon - sounding a lot tighter - imho there is a market for a 'gold' style AM station

Listening to a very clear signal on 1395 AM (very clear, almost FM quality)

Energy AM is on 1386 these days, but other than that you are correct in what you say. I listened to it a couple of times today and yesterday on the car radio and the signal was great.

Tonik 107.1 and Play 93.2 were both raided yesterday afternoon by Comreg and Garda, other stations got news and went off air, NRG FM not raided and due back Monday.

sorry to hear that, i've no doubt they will be back though, both still online so alls not lost thankfully, wonder what spurred this action? probably have to use up the budget.

they might stay off longer until things die down?

The messing going on 92.2 and 92.1 will have hardly helped - Tonik got a clear run for 3 years afaik - Play had been untouched for a while as well.

i'm unsure of that situation, but i suspect its the station on 92.2 causing the problems, knowing the station on 92.1 and knowing of those behind it their very careful

and rightly so, they should have been left alone, their not doing any harm, hoping for a speedy return to the airwaves for all

    thats exactly whats going on..

The pirates need a forum to keep in touch with each other!
