E46 320d SE - Break for parts or sell whole?

    Folks,
Have a 2002 E46 320d for the past 6 years that's never let me down - Still drives fine etc.... However i'm just bored of it and time for a change. She's currently on 130k and the only bother i've had from her apart from the usuals was a few years ago the turbo seals were on their way out, so I sent the turbo to Turbo technics in the UK to be fully re-furbished - not had a bother since

    Bad points:
    No NCT
Front bushes will need renewing soon
Needs wheel alignment - front passenger tyre is wearing away on the outside
Usual stone chips on the bonnet and some fcuker put a small dent in the front wing last week.

    She's pretty high spec.
    Xenon's
    Heated leather seats
    Heated wing mirrors
    Parking sensors
    Climate Control air-con
    6cd changer
Swan-neck tow-bar (was used to pull only a 140kg trailer so not laboured)
    17" alloys (good condition)
    fog lights
    Multi function steering wheel

Without the NCT, I don't know if i'd even get 2k for it. Can't be arsed having to put another 200 (plus a new tyre) into it to get NCT (although it might bring it's value up) I just don't have the time.

The 64k question: Is there demand for parts? If so i'd consider just breaking it - would net a lot more than 2k (maybe i'm under-valuing it?). I don't mind having the car sitting in the yard for 6 months until there's nothing but a shell left... but it's a risk.

Or should I just sell it cheap and move on with life?? I'm considering lobbing it up on Donedeal to see what the craic is.

The next question which probably deserves it's own thread: With the talk of 08 cars reverting back to CC based tax charges, should I hold out until January to get a new wagon? Would like to get an 08 3 series, or possibly just go with a Range Rover commercial (Could do with the commercial for work for the space in the back)

If you dont have the time to nct it where will you find the time to part it out ?
Regardless of that sell as is or nct and sell seems the only two options to me.

Was planning on giving it to a mech. friend who'll break it for me - obviously giving him a % for his troubles

Definitely a demand for 320d's, sell it as is.

You'd get good money for a 320d in good knick. Definitely worth getting it sorted for NCT and selling.

You would sell it for a few grand easily, investing in the bushes would be definitely worth it.

You would be lucky to part it out from 2k, you would see the engine and interior go quick enough but the rest would be a pain to move on. If it only needs these things I would definately do them and sell it whole.

Fair enough, thought there'd be demand for parts in general but will take advice on-board

I'll stick an ad up for it as is for 2k and see what happens. If no demand, i'll lob it into the mechanic in the coming weeks when I won't need the car for a day or two and get the bushes sorted

    Thanks

Sort the front, enjoy the car. Don't shred it over a few bushes
