Been awarded this and am wondering what I do now? Do I go to college with the letter and this amount is taken off my fees? Also is this fee 2000euro or does it depend? Thanks.

If your income is less than 31500 you get a fee grant of 2000

If your income is less than 22000 and you are earning social welfare you can get a grant upto 6270 towards fees

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

    Hi there,

In order to have your fees paid in full (up to a maximum of €6270) for a Postgraduate course, you must meet the qualifying conditions for the special rate of maintenance.

If you think you might be entitled to a higher award and you wish to appeal the decision, I have listed instructions on how to do so below:

    1. Download and print off the appeals form via the below link:

    2. http://www.cdvec.ie/getattachment/St...-2012.pdf.aspx

    3. Complete the appeals form accompanying it with any documentation that may support your appeal.

    4. You can then either post it to the address listed on the appeals form or your can e-mail it to us.

Please note: If you wish to e-mail the appeals form you will need to follow the below steps to ensure prompt processing:

    1. Draft an e-mail to support@susi.cdvec.ie with "Appeal" in the subject line of the e-mail. You will also need to ensure the e-mail is sent from the e-mail address associated with the application.

    2. You will then need to scan the completed appeals form and supporting documentation and save it in PDF format.

    3. And finally attach the saved scanned to the e-mail you have drafted and send it to us.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Robbie

If your income is less than 31500 then you get a grant of 2000
If it less than 22,700 and you were in a social welfare rate then you will probably be eligible for a fee grant of upto 6270.

    Hi there,

Sorry for jumping in on this but it's a similar question that I have to ask.

I have also received notification that I can receive the 2000 euro contribution to fees for my Masters, but I was wondering if you have to be currently in receipt of a social welfare payment to get the full amount, or does it mean you had to be in receipt of it in 2011?

I can't figure it out and it would be helpful to know, as it would decide on me appealing or not.

    Thanks

Thanks Mango Salsa, that clears it up for me. I just wasn't sure if you still had to be getting a social welfare payment or not, but it seems that I am eligible for appeal as I was getting BTEA on 31st December 2011 and my income level is also below the threshold.

    Thanks again!

Could someone please advise where I might find further information regarding these grants? I have just started a low paid job (€18,000 p.a.) and I intend to start a MA programme in September 2013. Obviously if I could be helped financially that would be great!

2013/2014 applications are likely to open around June. It could be earlier or later though

Sorry to gatecrash this thread but could some of you knowledge folk offer me some advise.

I finish my degree in May and am guaranteed to start work in September so I will probably sign on for the summer as I have previously done. I was thinking if I wanted to do my masters would I be best to do it in September 2013 as I think I would fit under the special rate grant (well that's if I understand it correctly). The Masters I'm considering is 9k.

OR I could work for a year, pay off my debt and start my Masters in September 2014 and possibly be eligible for the 2k grant towards the fee.

    Thoughts??

    Its really upto yourself

Grant rules change from year to year. You might be eligible now but perhaps not eligible in a years time

True. I'll mull it over, prob best not to jump into it unless I'm 100% certain it's what I want to do.

Hi, I was wondering does anyone know how long the appeals take. I sent my appeals form nearly two weeks ago. i'm really sick of the whole SUSI process at this stage.

I applied back in June, was provisionally awarded a grant in September. SUSI cancelled my application in October, told me to reapply in November and then told me I didn't need to reapply I only had to submit my Final Course Acceptance Form. I did that and was then told actually I did have to reapply but they could transfer my documents. I reapplied at the end of November. I was then told at the end of December that I had to resubmit my documents. I did that and was finally awarded 100% contribution even though my income was way way below the €22,000 figure and my mother was on social welfare (dependent applicant). At this stage I am nearly ready to have a full blown fit about the whole thing.

So any information on how long the appeals take would be really great.
