    It should not be happening.

Try to record when it happens .... watching some particular channel or time or something that seems to be common about the time it freezes.

Then call the installer and report it and get him to fix it.

Check connections from aerial to box and box to tv are tight.

Did they go at the aerial? Indoor or outdoor?

Does it happen when electrical spikes occur, eg switching lights on, cooker, toaster, etc?

If so, it could be down to the screening quality of the coax used - EMI caused by the electrical appliance 'spark' could be the reason the picture freezes.

I once had a situation where I could cause the picture to freeze at will by switching a hand held, battery operated gas ring lighter in the same room as the box.

Did the installer install a new aerial and give a guarantee? If professionally installed this should not be happening. Ask them to come back and fix it.

Is it happening on every channel? I have the same problem but only with tv3

You shouldn't be having problems on only 1 service, unless you have deliberately re-ordered your channel list to replace the originally listed TV3 with a copy being received from a weaker transmitter.

Hi all, many tks for replies....from your replies, I have a better idea what to look at...I will log when the problem occurs and what is happening in the house at the time..and see if I can find a connection. The installer is highly qualified and I would.nt think there wd be a prob with him coming back if ness..
    Tks again.

Hey outdoorlass just wondering if you got the problem of the picture freezing sorted as I have a similar one.

    Hi Hargo,
I checked the connections into the telly, saorview box, ariel etc to make sure all were pushed / screwed in properly.
I then did a "first time connection" retune. Seems to have done the trick. Telly in my mother-in-laws had been
very badly effected with problem...Ours not to the same degree. Both are absolutely fine now (T.G. !!)
Presume u have read what the others suggested above.....They gave me a couple of ideas of where to try sorting
    the problem....
Hope u can sort it out..cus it is fair annoying....!!
