Fixing a battery pole

So I've a fairly new tractor battery, but one of the cable terminals got broken so it was the usual craic of using a vice grips instead. This has resulted in one of the poles disintegrating to about half its original size. I was wondering if I melted lead into a piece of copper pipe of appropriate diameter around the damaged pole would it remedy the problem?
Another week of starting the tractor this way will have me left with no pole whatever.

Could you not shim it up? Depending on what pole it is (they are different sizes) you could put a smaller battery terminal connector on it too.

It's in seriously bad shape now, as in it's completely flat on both sides and is about 6mm thick. I don't think I could shim it up in a way that'd provide a good enough connection to stop further damage

Bring it to your local battery retailer, they can be repaired.

You could buy a repair pack once upon a time. Think you used to melt lead and put it into the mould on the battery pole. Check ebay.

    Get a lead vice grip.

careful if melting lead, very toxic fumes.
