stone building at bottom of malahide road / marino mart

hey, i pass this building most days and have always wondered what it was - it is the stone building on the triangle at the bottom of the malahide road - opposite city cycles , the taxi rank is on one side of the triange and bus stop on the other -
it does not seem to have any modern use and looks like it could have been built around the time that the houses on the cresent were built
anyone any idea

It's some sort of electricity sub-station. Looks a bit like Hitler's bunker.

It's an electricity sub station. AFAIR there is a stone plague with a date on it.
