Apparently DART fares are going up today? Absolutely nothing whatsoever about this on the Irishrail website or Twitter, only heard about it from Herald.ie... Bit of a disgrace TBH!

Anyone know how much a ticket which used to cost 2.50, and a return which used to cost 4.70 will be now?

Well on Dublin bus the €1.90 fare went up to €2.15, that should give you a rough idea.

I'd say you are looking at around €2.70 and €4.95.

It's now cheaper for me to drive to work since I have free parking, it's also 45 mins quicker each way too.

They are trying to discourage people from using public transport right? With the high tax rate on petrol and the inability to run an efficient public service they must be worried some people might stop using their cars.

How much has the same journey (€2.10) gone up on the leap card?

Trying to figure this stuff out is incredibly irritating, leap card site talks in terms of "distance category A, B etc" none of which is mentioned anywhere on irishrail.ie

Think its about the same rise as the other tickets.

Why are you still paying cash?

Using LEAP the fare is €2.30 single and €4.60 return.

That's because its how Irish rail have their fares set to increment. On phone so can't link to it. On the Irish rail site their should be a fare calculator, where you set your start and destination.

He was on about using leap. Eg: 2.10 would of been the fare from cool mine to drumcondra.

I realise that - but I was asking the question why he hasn't thought if using leap before now!
