    hey haws it going,

I am currently looking for a course to start for sept 2013 or the year after
I will be a mature student and am a qualified plumber.

the course i had in mind is Building services engineering in DIT.
with my plumbing trade i was informed that i would be able to go straight into the 2nd year of this course...can anyone tell me is this true?

anybody done or currently doing this course any input would be great.
are you enjoying the course,is it difficult,is there further study available
is the career path good...kind of work being done, salary etc??

    thanks

Not sure about advanced entry into the course. But yet there is further aspects for studying available in the form of master degrees abroad in the UK. There is also the option of going into a more sustainable energy approach for a masters degree.

There is not much work out there at all as the course is primarily based on the construction of new buildings etc, and as you know there isnt much building going on. The same goes for wages, it was well paid until the recession kicked in.

It could be worthwhile doing, if you intended to do a masters after it in sustainable buildings/energy.

Have a look at Mechanical Engineering. It is a very good course. Building Services Engineering involves a lot of 2-D Cad and as said is concerned with lighting and ventilation systems of buildings. I know a good few lads that could not get a job here with Building Services Engineering.
