Hi folks, I want to buy tickets for a match for my dad, he is 80 and has no bother getting up and down the stands in Thomond Park, the match he wants to see is on in the Aviva, are the upper tiers there very steep or not as bad as Thomond Park?

The problem is he'll have to climb several flights of steps just to get to the upper tier.

Depending on the match/your budget etc it mightn't be a bad shout to get him tickets for the corporate level

You'll have a lift all the way up to the seats that way.

Higher up, they're as steep as Thomond Pk.
The first 6-8 rows in the upper tier are all around exit level to each section. Higher up beyond that, it gets steep again.
My seats are in row C of an Upper stand which is around 3 rows below exit level.

    Thomond Park is steeper IMO.

I don't think it's the steepness that's the problem, they're only as steep as a normal staircase. But the distance you have to climb vertically is quite large. There are 3 or 4 staircases inside (though I think you can take a lift) but once you emerge out into the stadium there is still a fair amount of climbing to go. If your dad is still active and able then you should be fine, but give yourself plenty of time before ha nd to get up there before the mob.

I think they are about the same. Thomond does however have two entrances for the steeper parts of each stand towards the middle so people sitting higher up can enter via the higher entrance. The Aviva only has one entrance per section and its lower down even tho the stand is higher. If that makes sense.

If you're getting upper tier tickets, get West Stand tickets if you can. It's easier to get to from town and there is an escalator over the tracks that cut down on the number of flights of stairs
