I hate it when there is no asking price in the ad.

    Nice motor though.

It's not so bad on a cruise in 6th. Plus being a Ford its cheap to service and anyone can fix it. Wonder what the finance deal is like?

    I saw this while browsing carzone;

    http://www.carzone.ie/search/Ford/GT/5.4L-V8-/29613470319984160/advert?channel=CARS

New looking ford gt40, 0 miles and 0 owners..... Problem is that I saw that car in that same garage back in 2007/8. Do they really expect us to believe that no one has been tempted to take her for a spin in the past 5 years??

    Yes.

And,, they had to get the Ford family to intervene to even buy the car. They used the fact they are the oldest Ford dealer in Ireland or something, just to get it.

Which means it's a bit of a travesty to sell it now. There again maybe the funds are going to be used to keep people in jobs.

    Sad, really.

    Ode To The Motorist

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

your on:p, but in all honesty I would rather my own car interior over that, its just horrible cheap and plactic looking if I could afford to spend a crazy amount of money on a car and sat in and saw that I be seriously pissed off.

A supercar should be spectacular in every way not just engine and exterior styling.

Well in the UK it was 100k new in sterling and it's got zero milage and it's 5 years old +vrt+vat+exchange rate+fact it's one of only afew with low/no milage i reckon it's just a showpiece they are using to get the dealership some attention.

Wouldn't be atall suprised if it was 150-200k euros

Always thought the GT was overpriced, crude muscle tat. I say this having never seen one or driven one.

That car has never left the Motorpark showroom in 5 years to the best of my knowledge! They also have (or at least had) an immaculate Escort cossie. Haven't seen that in a while though so maybe it was moved on.

As far as i know theres two Ford Gt's in Ireland. One grey and one silver. The red looks better. Ive seen them in the metal and they are impressive but if i was shopping in that league id prefer something Italian. Strange thats been hanging around so long, there has to be someone overseas looking for one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,753 ✭✭✭qz

I've been for a spin in a GT, one of the silver ones. It would knock your fcuking socks off. I love them.

Boys, that's not a GT40. Its a Ford GT. The last GT40 would have been built around 1970 or not much later. Probably the closest you would get today would be a GT40 Continuation. Not really a replica, very high percentage of commonality with original GT40 and eligible in post historic racing.

This will almost certainly go overseas, whether it's to the UK or even somewhere in Asia, Ford GT's have actually held their value incredibly well, even appreciated in value. I have no doubt that this one (never registered, delivery miles) will go for considerably more than the price it was originally bought for. It probably won't be advertised for long, there aren't many brand new Ford GT's left in the world.

It'll be sad to see a rare car like this leave the country but not as sad as seeing it sit in a showroom for 5 years gathering dust!

Was advertised for that alright but it didn't sell, it's still with the original owner, doesn't live far from me :)

It was at Top Gear Live in Dublin a few years ago, other than that you could be right but I'd imagine that there are a few hundred miles on it now.

That's correct, 3 GT's in total came here. This one has always been on display in the Galway showroom but has never been offered for sale until now.

I remember looking at a second hand GT 40 through a Ford dealers window in Kingston Surrey.Price £6000.The year was 1969 and you could have bought a half decent semi for the same price. Those were the days!

    Belonging to SteveIRL?

I think they're awesome and would take one any day over a modern Ferrari / Lambo.

It was white with the blue stripes.I think, but it was a long ago that Noel Edmonds bought it. I was earning £6 a week as an apprentice at the time just to give some perspective.
