Looking for advice on getting my 16 year old boiler replaced , currently have a which breaks down quite regular, I was going to replace it with a Potterton Promax System24 He Plus A , can anyone recommend this boiler or advise against it ?
The reason I was opting for this one in particular is because a friend can get one at a good price (550).
Would this boiler be suitable to heat a pretty average size 4 bedroom semi ?
Any idea (ball park )how much it would cost to install ?
If I was to go down this route could I still apply for a grant ?
    Cheers in advance .....:)

There is no warranty with those boilers. They are brought in from the North and not handled by the Potterton agents in Ireland so they will not cover the warranty as they have not supplied them.
I, too came across them and taught what a good price. What was the catch? When I dug deeper, the above was the answer.

Most manufacturer will always try swindle there way out of sending out an engineer

Most of the new range of boilers are quite good IMO and everyone has there own, some will talk one brand down whilst others will rave about it, everyone has there favourite and there mainly down to the suppliers they deal with, the price they get it for, as most clients are happy with a professionals recommendation, and how reliable the last one they installed was.

If you are happy knowing that you might get 10 years+ without any problems or you could be one of the unlucky ones and have a break down in the first couple of months, go for it, but parts can be very expensive.

So with knowing you could have a €150-€500 bill this time next year or fork out for it now, have the same problem, same time, different brand BUT are covered under warranty, the choice is yours
