Works well for me anyway,I can group a batch of 16 cows within 10 days of calving and let them into feed at about 9 o clock and give them enough to last till about 7 or 8 the following morning,After that nothing only water and most will calve from early morning and throughout the day

Have fed in the evening for years now and it works very well. from about a month before calving i feed the cows as the last job in the evening generally about 6-6.30, the majority of cows will calve from 6 am to 10 pm.
