Hi folks, had an issue with my Sky+ HD box and it froze up last night and it has been an ongoing issue for the last couple of months, but I choose to ignore it and reboot it etc. to revieve it again. I am using the card trick also tho enble to UK channels to record. Now the thing is it now not recognising my ROI sky card,, I was on the sky tech. dept and went through the usual troubleshooting steps and in the end to no avail. Now they have a replacment card on order to sort out the issue, but, if that does not resolve the issue a engineer will call out, yeah thats sounds ok, eh, no it doesn't its a €100 call out charge, you have got to be joking, yes I did say that and will cancel before that happens.

Has anybody else had the same experience, thanks in advance.

that new epg is causing havoc, the first thing you can try is a forced software download but before you do look on details and make a note of the current version, ie write it down, then when you do a forced update you can check to see if sky have updated it. do you know how to do a forced software update?

I tried the forced software update, but alas no joy, but thanks for the suggestion.

Does it say Please insert card or there is a fault with your card.... You may have damaged the switch at the back of the card reader. Disconnect the mains, insure your card is fully inserted the right way and apply back the mains power.

It did go into software update mode.

I have tried disconnecting all cable including the LNB inputs and left for about 10 mins, then plugged all back in and popped card back in and then left it again for about 10 mins and turned box on and no change. Sky have tried from there side to reset something but didn't work.

The thing is it is working up with my UK sky card and views all the channels but when I try the ROI card, no sucess.

Sorry... I'm just making sure I was clear... you said your connecting the mains and then putting the card in? my instruction was to make sure your ROI card was in fully then apply the mains and try.

Doing so would eliminate a common fault with card readers, which is the switch at the back of the reader. If this switch becomes faulty your box would default to the UK EPG.

You could also check your Systems Details to see if the box is showing a card number.

Yes, I have tried popping card in fully and then applying mains.

It not showing up a card number in system details.

A friend had the same issue last week - was also using the card trick with a UK card. It started off with loosing the UK channels after 20 minutes of watching them, would have to re enable them, and eventually progressed to the stage where the ROI card was not recognised - all he could get was the UK EPG. He rang sky and they sent out a new ROI card saying his card was showing a fault. He's nervous now about trying the card trick as he believes it may have affected the ROI card in some way ?
