    Hi All,

Keeping my eyes open for a change of scenery in the next few months. Thinking of a move to either dublin or galway. Just wondering what should I be expecting salary wise in Dublin? I have a masters in software engineering and 2 years experience with SQL 2005/8, Asp.Net and Asp.Net MVC. I would be looking for more .Net work, Mainly MVC work.

    Cheers,
    Frank.

    That's about right I'd say

40 is bang on I reckon.

For 2-3 years experience, I would expect €40K in the current market alright.

40k? Jesus I'm in my final year of college, and with two years solid work I could be on that?

Would most people make a jump after the they get their first bit of experience, then come onto the market and get a 40k job or would ye see it happening that even within one organisation your pay would increase like that?

The rule of thumb is that for any significant raise in salary, you need to change jobs.

How much would a contractor with that general skill-set earn (obviously with more experience)?

Depends how much more experience, but contract rates seem to start at about e300/day. Rule of thumb is to assume 10x20 days worked = e60k.

Would there be a wide variety in either contractor/full time pay rates for the same skill set between Dublin and the regions?

Not really, Dublin rates are usually a bit higher. London is even higher again. If willing to travel then occasionally specialist roles pops up across europe for abnormal rates.

Rates are an important part of the picture, but other stuff like allowable expenses and international travel can make a big impact on tax calculation.
