Team members will also receive FREE entry to two of these races. On completion of all five races a special reception will be hosted by the Lord Mayor at the Mansion House where each athlete will be presented with a unique medallion.
Sounds good, but do you really have to go to the awards ceremony in the Mansion House afterwards?! Pity they didn't include a race from the weekly ParkRuns. It would have been a great way to promote the ParkRun effort, which is very much aligned with the goals of the 5 Alive Challenge and might increase visibility for a potential sponsor.

Malahide is outside of DCC though, isn't it? under Fingal? Would assume it wouldn't have been considered based on that?

Most likely. But does it really matter were the races take place? They should ditch the Operation Transformation race and do the ParkRun that morning instead. Simples. :)

Yes, Malahide is Fingal. But there are people talking to DCC about parkruns in the city. So, maybe next year they could include one.

"Road Races are part of the sporting fabric of our city and the five selected take place in well known areas of Dublin."

Great to hear that being acknowledged.

Presumably it's promoting road running hence no Park Run.

I am also very mindful of the wonderful City Council parks dotted throughout Dublin which provide ideal training grounds whether as a fun runner, serious runner, or an elite runner. We are privileged to have such fine parks” he said.
Three of the races are in Parks. ;)

It's a very worthy idea and I applaud it. Not knocking it in any way.

Sure we can all use facts to back up our opinions ;)

The runs are on roads though ;) Just in parks. But yeah, it may be a missed opportunity to use Malahide and say BTW, this is on every week.
