Idea for Liberty Hall - Anyone remember this?

Anyone remember the lights that were on Liberty Hall for a few weeks back.

With the building in the news again recently, I thought I'd remind people of this really cool, original idea that would have been a great use of the building at very little cost to the taxpayer.

"Originally inspired by the Blinkenlights installation in Berlin, Playhouse raises the technological bar with the ability to produce colour animations along with sound and music (broadcast over FM radio within the vicinity of the building)."

Yes, that's right, it was running for about a month back in 2009.

Would look better as a big bonfire.

Liberty Hall - ironic name for the headquarters of workers ruled by the Troika.

In 2009 on the night when Ireland played Italy in a World Cup qualifier in Croke Park, Liberty Hall was lit up like an Irish tricolour. Was very cool and added to the excitement that was in Dublin that night. One of the best atmospheres around the city for a qualifier in years. Pity about the eventual result...

Indeed, I remember that weekend well, my friend was back over from London for the weekend.

The game was on a Saturday night, think we got a 0-0.

Anyway, I think Liberty Hall should have been left like this, it was potentially an iconic part of the skyline with the lights on it, plus it wouldn't have cost the millions upon millions that will eventually be spent on some ill-advised white elephant.

Then again, expecting a bit of foresight and imagination from the planners in Ireland would be too much

Was indeed a Saturday but was the 2-2 last minute goal conceded. You're thinking of the away game.

Anyway, otherwise, LH I always thought LH looked like a kip but is an iconic feature of the syline now, I guess.

It is a kip and always will be, but the lights disguised the fact quite well which was what was so good about it.

It was like two different buildings, before and after

Still ugly. Theres nothing that can be done to make that building look even slightly attractive.

They do the lighting affect thing with the Empire State building. It looks stupid on a building as small as Liberty Hall.
