I want to change the stereo in my 05 Alfa Romeo 147. I have the fascia adaptor plate and the stereo I want to put in. I was thinking of having a go at this myself but just want to know if there is anything else i need (adaptors, extra cables etc.) before I go at the existing stereo. Also any advice on anything tricky that could come up would be a big help.

not sure if they are the same, but in my old 02 alfa, it was tricky to get the stereo out. you needed the U pins to unclip and pull uout. they did unclip mine properly. it has the same connedtor pins as blaupunt on the back.

    Hi Mikey,

I`m also looking into changing the stereo head unit on my 2007 147.

I emailed the tech guys from this online store and they informed me about all the necessary cables/fascia etc I needed for the unit i`m interested in (see Link below). I`m now debating on whether to try installing the unit myself or seeing if there is an installer reasonably priced in the Dublin area.

I went ahead with the install myself yesterday and had no problem with the connections. I used a coat hangar cut into two separate pieces to remove the standard stereo with no problems. However the Panasonic stereo(cq-c1333u) I put in has what I can only describe as an extra piece of housing around the main housing by the front of the it. This is preventing it and the fascia plate i got from amazon from sitting flush with the dashboard. I'm going to have a look to see tomorrow if I can remove the extra piece. Once that's done(if possible!) it should sit nice and flush and many happy days of iPod music in the car are ahead :)

You can see the extra piece in the pic below....

I replaced the stereo in my 147 (also an 05) when I got it with the head unit from my previous car.

Don't remember any issue - just getting the facia adaptor to help blend it in on the dash. AFAIR it used an extra wiring plug (or else I had to take extra plug off) but I had that from the head unit. Was pretty straightforward in any case.
