I have been told that if you get the required points via fetac the maths requirement for leaving cert maths is not required. My work exp teacher said that I wont need maths but I think she is wrong but I can't find anyone helpful to talk too in W.I.T.

I am not sure what to do, any advice guys.

Are you doing your fetac level 5 award in 1 year

WIT have a new rule that award must be achieved over 1 year and not by combining modules over more than 1 year to achieve an award

Not familiar with those courses but some of the computer courses require maths for computers module

Still can't find out for sure whether maths is still a requirement when applying with fetac.

Do you have a careers teacher in your college? S/he may know or be able to find out from someone in WIT. Or if you haven't done so you could email the admissions office/mature students office (if that's relevant to you) in WIT. Or maybe call in during the day if you're around?

This link here http://http://www2.cao.ie/fetac/fetac_search2.php , shows that you don't need maths for either of the courses that you are applying for. If the link doesn't work, just google 'cao fetac' and the first link there lets you see the entry requirements for FETAC students applying to nearly all the colleges.

The courses you are interested in are 'upd' which means that you are competing against leaving certificate students for places, they don't limit the number of fetac students with a quota. This should be good news for you as the recent points for your courses were around the 210 mark, http://http://www2.cao.ie/points/LVL76_12.htm#wdp which when you consider that its 50 points for a distinction, 35 merit, 20 pass, its very achievable. I know that there is a new common award system but its still works out pretty much like that.

Get it in writing from WIT by email as to the exact requirements for your course as they may require that you present with a FETAC Maths module or Leaving Cert Maths
