    is the stylophone a good instrument to learn if you cant play any other instrument?

    Not really, it's extremely limited, you may as well just be playing a piano with one finger. I love the sound of it, but I wouldn't consider it a gateway to a harder instrument. Once you know where all the notes are you've pretty much mastered it.

    It has more cool factor than one of those plastic blow into keyboard things, but is just as musically limited.

    unless you're in a Bowie cover band and need to play the space oddity solo, you're not going to get many gigs!

    Hey, the Melodica is an awesome and respectable instrument! :P I wouldn't say it's very limited, but it is essentially half a small accordion with no bellows.

    There are very few songs that feature the Stylophone in fairness, The Bee of the Bird of the Moth by They Might Be Giants makes reasonable use of it.

    It's a quirky sound but you can get tired of it very quickly.
    I bought one a couple of years ago, used it maybe 4 or 5 times and haven't touched it since.
    You might be better off looking for a reasonably priced keyboard instead if you intended learning a couple of tunes
