Throw up a photo. If it's a nice head it might be worth mounting as a trophy. Otherwise, if the antlers are thick enough, someone might be interested in them for knife handles or walking stick handles or the heads of shooting sticks. Always nice to see traditional materials like that.

Is a trophy fallow head worth anything or does people buy them? How would you know if it is a good enough head. Does it go by the width of the palms?

Have seen them for sale as decorations, mostly on the continent, but the real value is to the person who shot it. Think there are a couple of different measuring systems in use. They all seem to focus on various measurements of the antlers, such as length overall, length of tines, thickness of bases, breadth of palmation, symmetry and weight. You can submit it to various assessors for measurement and scoring on the above criteria and medals are awarded for animals of sufficient quality. Maybe you could sell one, but it'd probably have to be a very good animal and the taxidermy would probably have to be excellent.

The head would need to be stuffed? Theres a good bit to it. Thanks for the information.

Well, your style of mounting might affect price or demand. Don't know whether there's even a market for it here. I doubt there'd be any demand just for a skull or anything though. Like I say, the real value is to the person who shot it. Trophy quality is assessed based on the bare skull though as far as I know, so wouldn't go mounting anything you wanted to get measured.

heres a fallow i got last year http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o764/blackwater1987/fallow.jpg and the red out the back sorry about the poor quality http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o764/blackwater1987/8pointer.jpg if any one wants the 8 pointer jus let me know it is cut too high to be mounted..

That's a nice looking fallow. I'd say he'd make a nice mount. The red might not have the thickness in the antlers to make a set of knife scales, but you'd know yourself, it's hard to judge from the picture. You could use the antler to make a nice head for a shooting/walking stick though.

No, he's definitely nice for a wild Irish fallow. I'd have him on the wall in a heartbeat myself. Congrats! Now go shoot one of the bigger reds to stick next to him.
