We'll skin them and cage them and eat them but on animal welfare grounds the line is drawn at having sex with them.

Ban it if you wish but just be honest about it, it's weird and creepy and that's why it's banned.

Germany can be weird sometimes. I once stayed in a small town hotel that had two 24/7 hardcore porn channels free of charge. I was flicking through the channels one night and (pardon the pun) came across them. Was weird : News, soap opera, MTV, dog, donkey, BBC, etc...

The zoo porn was on prime time so must have been popular...

Whilst I am not speaking for all of them the Germans have a far greater proportion of fcuking weirdos than any other nationality I have come across. Not ll of them obviously, but certainly above the 10% mark.
