    Probably not under 2 kgs/head/day.

I would always feed minerals for the winter and calcium(Limestone Flour) as well. You can get 25kg bags of minerals for between 12-18e/bag. You feed on top of silage meal make sure all weanling have access. 25 grams/100kgs, the same with limestone flour 15-20/100kgs. For both for a 300kg weanling it will cost 4.5-6.5 cent/day. The right amount of minerals is often as good as 1-2kgs of ration/day.

If they are in during the winter a long time you can stop the minerals after 2 months for 2-3 weeks and feed again after that. However I always make sure they are on minerals for last six week inside.

Lick buckets are mainly molasses if cattole are hungry the will devour them. Powder that you mix with meal is better. However check label to make sure minerals quanties are right I was advised that the dairygold superchoice was a good mix. So get a bag and compare with any other's that you get cheaper

i think barley/wheat on its own would be a little low in protein. you could mix in a bit of distillers, soya or rapeseed with it to make it more palatable. probably need to make it up to 16% protein

Limestone flour is cubicle lime(not burnt lime) it is a very fine form of ordinary lime and is a good source of calcium. In GB and the US nearly all finishing diets include 1% limestone flour and they reccomend 20-25 grams/100kg LW for weanlings/stores. However you have to make sure that you include adequate minerals as the limestone/calcium leeches these out of the body very fast.It also seems to increase intake and gain.
All co-op have it in bags some even at this time of year give 1 bag free with every 5.

im just maintaining weanlings keeping meal cost down so a 16 percent ration is fine for me have to let weanlings make a frame before forcing

I have weanlings to feed and in the interest off keeping at keeping costs down would barley along with silage and balancer be enough protein for them, never got silage tested.

At a guess, and really without testing that’s all it is, no, chances are they will need a protein source.
