Hi all, heading to Tipp at weekend to visit the in-laws and hoping to get a run in while down there. Last time I was down there I did 22 laps of the local GAA pitch (as was told that 22 laps equates to 5 miles) but it was terribly boring.

The local roads are a bit dodgy the way the locals drive so I was wondering does anyone know of any trails or parks or whatever reasonably close to Thurles that would suit a 10k run?

I was going to reply to this until i seen you were slagging off the locals, so you can run on the boring GAA field or take your chances with the local drive's:D:D:D.

Its "near" Thurles, but a friend of mine in Tipp goes to Templemore park (its just off main st) to run now and then it has a park area and a more wooded area thats not bad for running in.

Might get a bit boring for a 10km run though :pac:, but you could work it into a longer run in and around Templemore perhaps?

if you start in the town and head out the Slievenamon Road. Take a right at the end of the golf course, this will be on to the Turtulla Road. It's quite nice out that direction. Keep going till you meet a T-junction and then head back. This should be about 10 or 12km in total. There will be a few dogs barking at you out the Turtulla Road but they are harmless enough:D
