Why isn't bonding available in more dental surgeries?

I'm looking into getting some bonding done on some gaps between my teeth and notice it isn't available in many dentists. Why is this?
I did see one dentist advertising it as a way of making teeth whiter (ie painting on a thin white coat over your own teeth) and was surprised more dentists don't seem to offer this for severely discoloured teeth instead of hardcore bleaching.
Any reasons why? Is it too prone to chip off the teeth?

Every dentist does bonding, bonding is just a fancy Americanism for white fillings material which is "bonded" to the teeth, look for composite restorations or white fillings. Can be a good option n some situations, doesn't tend to last that long.

Even the title of this thread (which I initially thought was posted in the wrong forum:o) should explain why the terminology isn't widespread!

The technique itself is, however.... tends to be referred to here as "adhesive dentistry", ALL dentists are trained in this.
