    Hi group,

As someone who is currently studyting psychotherapy I would like to start my own work out of curiosity and to start learning a bit more about the actual I practice. I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of the costs involved at the moment In Dublin, say, for psychoanalysis.

Being a poor student I don't want to sign up for something I can't pay afford!

    Thanks

Are you looking at psychoanalytic psychotherapy or 'pure' psychoanalysis? One will be an hour once a week, the other will most likely be three times a week for 20 mins.

I am in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and used to pay €60 an hour. I have reduced the time to 45 mins and now I pay €45. If you explain that you are going as part of your study you'll probably get a reduced rate.

Thanks I do mean pure analysis as opposed to therapy. 20 minute Lacanian.

It will depend on how often you are going will it be 3 times a week. My personal analysis was over five years the last time I engaged in it. During that time I had periods where I was attending 3 times a week and others where it was once. An example may be 90 for 3 seesions, but if it was 2 sessions it might be 80.

That is just a guess based upon what I know people charge.
