    Hi All

Just looking for a bit of advice

I used to be a director on my Fathers Building Company about 3 years ago. I was not involved in the business in any way but my Father needed a second name to setup the company initially.

The company is still in business now. When I resigned from the company my father got his friend to be a new director.

Recently the company got a VAT bill of €20k.It looks like the company accountant made some type of omission about 4 years ago which has now come to light. The upshot is the Revenue are looking for €20k which the company can not afford to pay.

I was wondering if I have any liability as the omission happened while I was one of the directors or does it fall back on the current directors?

    Thanks in advance :)

A financial liability - maybe not unless you signed personal guarantees. A legal liability yes - you signed off on the books, this was your responsibility as a director.
