    Nice one, thanks.
20 minutes in or so he covers Ireland.VERY interesting.
He is predicting loads will be shipped/pushed out and the country turned into something similar to an oilfield for the most part.

I think there are too much natural resources here for us to ever be allowed to leave the EU.
Imagine the fear that we start striving after Norways example.
Sometime i will have to do some proper research on the companies who are at the moment taking natural resources.

Daithi, I watched the first 10 minutes of the first video, and the guy has already badly let himself down by making up stuff or repeating lies about that guy Alessio Rastani, claiming he worked for a US bank and that he was . Does he continue like that, in which case it clearly isn't worth watching?

the first comment on the link you gave seems apt here

Typical strawman slander article. Attack the messenger, not the message.

Who the feck cares what his bank balance is? He was absolutely right, and trying to smear his name isn't going to change that.

I'm not attacking Rastani at all.

    Uh oh!

The annoying thing is that there are genuinely good points to made on a lot of this stuff.

    hahahaha - oh wow.

It's almost like if you have a particular worldview, you'll find a way to view absolutely everything from that frame of reference.

Are you referring to yourself now ?

I'm not sure what failure of comprehension has led to this conclusion, but you should probably look to correct it.

Well, consistency does have a value, I suppose.
Regardless of the manner in which one is consistent.

I'd urge anyone interested in the natural resources side of things not to swallow the ULA/SF/looney fringe story about us being awash with oil and gas and being robbed blind by multinationals. The story is a lot more complicated than that if you look into it (via neutral sources).

I would appreciate any sources you might have.
I like to have as many angles as possible to look from.

There's a decent short introduction to the subject here. You'll read it in a couple of minutes.

Thanks, although thats pretty much the same story as the other articles posted.

So as Irish Citizens we are allowed to recieve information about the money we get from the taxation of Shell?
Im wonering where it goes exactly. The government i presume are obliged to release annual financial reports.

It seems to me if we are only getting 25% or less, its better off in the ground for a later date.Unless its actually going to a good cause like helping homeless people or something.

Knowing how the real world works in a majority of cases, im going to guess its being pocketed by some assh0les in suits.

Was reading the comments and tis guy had some interesting thngs to say.

Ronan I don’t deal in conspiracies I deal in factual information. As I have already stated they burden of proof rests with you the author to support your data. If this is a fun piece, a thought experiment, based on a speculative figures as the commenter above suggests, then your ought to be clear about this in your conclusions.

With regard to the deep water prospect in Dunquin field, seismic studies conducted on behalf of Providence, widely reported in 2006 have indicated a recoverable volume of up to 25 trillion square cubic feet of gas and about 4 billion barrels of oil. That would potentially put it among the 20 biggest fields in the world.

Exxon-Mobil have a “carried interest” in the licence, meaning that it bears all the costs in return for the 80% stake. However, under the current (1992) licensing arrangements, the oil companies have effective ownership of any oil and gas that they locate. The State gives up its ownership rights with the oil corporations paying 25% tax on their profits as you suggest. However, before they pay a cent in tax the oil companies can write off all exploration and development costs, and the estimated costs of closing down the wells themselves, when that is done at some unspecified point in the future. It has been estimated that many finds will be at least half depleted before the State can claim any tax revenue. Neither is there any obligation upon oil/gas corporations to land Irish resources in Ireland. The oil/gas can be directly piped into tankers and shipped to the UK or US. Exxon-Mobil, therefore, are effectively acquiring a potentially huge block of gas and oil resources at a knock-down price. Providence Resources have simply acted as a facilitator for Exxon-Mobil, playing the role of the entrepreneur, and gaining the vital concession from the Irish government, while the large US corporations waited in the wings.

The arguement continues further on the comments.
Not sure how much is fact and fiction though.

Watched about 40 minutes of it I think. As I've said, there are genuine questions to be answered on much of what he was talking about, but he rather let himself down with some of his Jim Corr-esque imaginative leaps.

And what do you think is his reason for this ? Bull****ting for profit or reading to many CT's or a slip of the tongue ? What else did he say that didn't sit right with you ?

Wait till you get to part 4 lol

I think that some people have a questioning mind and don't accept it when they are told 'things are like this (X)'. Also some people have a way of making connections between things that other people haven't noticed or thought about (or thought about and dismissed). In the right proportions, people with these characteristics end up like Albert Einstein. In the wrong proportions, they end up touring Ireland with Jim Corr... :)
